| I have owned an American Girl doll for a very long time. Only recently have I noticed the outbreak of American Girl Dolls on the Today show and such. I live in and grew up in Keokuk Iowa a very small town and no one knew what an American Girl Doll was back in the day. It was not cool, it was not popular, or prestigious at all. My grandma is an avid or was and avid doll collector. Not to knock the dolls cause they did create a niche in the market as far as dolls go but I recently was given a link to a fellow blogger blog posting. I couldn't believe what it said!!!!!!!! A hair stylist (yes flunky beautician) for the American Girl Doll place was small enough of a person to belittle a six year old girl, with what i would assume would be an attempt to make the stylist feel big and prestigious. This little girl who purchased her own doll from target and decided to spend her very own hard earned money on getting the dolls hair done at the American Girl Place was turned away cause at six years old she had chosen to buy a doll and love a doll that she could afford. At six years old I would say that she was doing pretty good and can be proud of her accomplishments. I would also say that she is possibly more intelligent than the stylist that belittled her by far! So when I hand down my American Girl doll to my little girl and she decides to get her hair done is she going to be turned away cause they notice that this doll is not new and wearing the latest clothing. At this point I will never purchase from American Doll Place so I ask will a customer from before there popularity and becoming the rage be treated as horribly. The only thing I can think is probably and it is all of the people that were customers before your trend that made you who you are today American Girl...I have never been so disappointed or outraged by a company that used to bring me good memories!!!!!
